Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has liked a social media post citing that Matheus Cunha is all-set to undergo a medical at the club. The Manchester Evening News reported last month the Brazilian is "optimistic" about joining United and is keen to make the move to Old Trafford.
With the curtain now drawn on the Premier League season, rumours on transfer movement is intensifying - with Cunha among those to spark speculation. Following Wolves' draw against Brentford at home on the final day, the former Atletico Madrid and Hertha Berlin forward appeared to bid farewell.
Cunha's contribution to Wolves' season has been imperative in ensuring their status in the Premier League for another year.
With the first transfer window set to open briefly from June 1, clubs may be looking to get their business wrapped up earlier in preparation for a full pre-season schedule and to avoid disruption.
Zirkzee, who is currently a part of United's first-team squad which has travelled to Malaysia and Hong Kong for their post-season tour, has been busy on social media and in particular on Instagram where he liked a post from Fabrizio Romano.
The reporter claimed Cunha is set to undergo a medical to become a United player, in a deal worth £62.5million - his release clause - signing a five-year deal.
He posted: "Matheus Cunha, set to undergo his medical test as a Man United player.
"Release clause worth £62.5m has been triggered and Cunha will sign a five-year deal plus an option at the club...
"...Story from Sunday and here we go confirmed."
The deal for Cunha would reinforce the attacking options after the Brazilian outscored both Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund in the Premier League last term.
United will be without European football after their defeat in the Europa League final vs Tottenham scuppered any hope of a glimmer of light after a dismal campaign.
As a result, restoring pride within the club and firing them back up the Premier League table will be the only option.
In doing so, Amorim has admitted that they will not need a big squad to fight on the domestic front.
"We always prepare two plans," the Portuguese said.
"With and without the Champions League. Without the Champions League, we also don't need a big squad.
"We can control the squad in a better way.
"Then we have a plan, and it is to bring in some new players, but our big plan is to improve the squad we have, to improve the academy.
"It was the past, so it can be the future. It can't change much because of Financial Fair Play, we are not allowed to do much, even with the Champions League, so we are prepared."
