Patrick Bamford could leave Leeds United this summer, ahead of the final year of his contract.

The striker has been linked with an exit from Elland Road, as Leeds returned to the Premier League as champions.

Supporters’ opinions of Bamford have been mixed over the past couple of seasons, but Luke Humphries’ latest admission will surely unite the fanbase.

Humphries labels Bamford number one

Bamford struggled with fitness once again this season and ended up making 17 league appearances this term, all of which were from the bench.

2023/24 33 8 3

It is time for Bamford to leave Leeds.

Although the 31-year-old has struggled of late, in previous seasons, there is no doubt that he was a big player in White.

MORE LEEDS STORIES

This summer, though, is likely to see Leeds part ways with the striker, with a move to Wrexham being heavily suggested so far.

If Bamford does depart, he will have the well wishes of many in West Yorkshire, with the current relationship between the two parties coming to a natural end.

Supporter Humphries has already given the striker praise, though, as when asked about his favourite Leeds goal, he told Sky Sports (26 May): “One of the best goals I’ve ever seen was Souleymane Doukara, that was one of the best goals I’ve ever seen.

“That was absolutely unbelievable, definitely the best goal. I think I’ve seen it could be even better than the Yeboah one to be honest – well that one’s more classical. I forgot Patrick Bamford’s last year as well – that was a good one. Top three there.”

The Sky Sports presenter asked for a top three order, to which the darts star replied: “I’m going to say Bamford first, then I’d go Doukara, then Yeboah.”

The pair both laughed before the presenter said: “Yeboah number three, that’ll rattle some Leeds fans, that.”

Humphries justified his decision with the reply: “Well, it’s in my era, that’s what I’ve seen.”

Leeds looking at new striker options

Daniel Farke knows that he needs attacking reinforcement this summer and the search is well underway.

Joel Piroe did win the Championship’s Golden Boot award, but having failed to break the 20-goal barrier and being the only real option, it’s not surprising that Farke wants more for the Premier League.

Bamford’s age isn’t what’s holding him back, either, with Callum Wilson and Jamie Vardy both being linked with moves to Elland Road this summer.

However, Farke needs experience in the side, with the top flight no doubt set to be a big challenge, with the gap between the top two tiers growing.

Nevertheless, it does seem as though the Whites are set to cover all bases with Nikola Krstovic also being eyed up for a move this summer.

Either way, it is clear that there is no room for Bamford in the side anymore.
