NFL analyst continues to bash Jalen Hurts, despite Super Bowl win

Jalen Hurts led the Eagles to a win in the Super Bowl to end last season and was named the MVP of the game after accounting for nearly 300 yards of offense and three touchdowns.

Still, NFL analyst Chris Simms isn’t convinced that Hurts is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Simms appeared on The Herd with Colin Cowherd recently and explained why he doesn’t have Jalen Hurts as one of the top five QBs in the National Football League.

PFF recently ranked all 32 NFL starting quarterbacks ahead of the 2025 season and has Hurts No. 5. However, Simms believes Texans QB CJ Stroud, who comes in at No. 14 on PFF’s list, belongs in the top 5, instead.

“I would put CJ Stroud over there in front of Jalen Hurts. We have a little bit of a revionist history here,” Chris Simms said. “He won the Super Bowl and everybody just forgot about the 10 weeks before that where we were like, ‘Wait, the passing game and the quarterback was the issue.’”

To be fair to Simms, Jalen Hurts did struggle at times last season. The former Oklahoma star threw for less than 200 yards per game during the regular season, and the Eagles played close games against lesser teams throughout the year, due in large part to their struggling passing game.

Still, the Eagles won the Super Bowl as Hurts made it to the Super Bowl for the second time in his career and finished off the job this time.

That didn’t impress Simms, though.

“His top receiver said, ‘What’s wrong with the team? The passing game.’ So how can now you be one of the best quarterbacks in the game?” Simms said. “I think I would have CJ Stroud in his place on that tier.”
