Feyenoord youngster Antoni Milambo has been told to jump at the chance to join Brentford, who see plenty of potential in the midfielder.
[Soccer News](https://www.soccernews.nl/news/dit-is-waarom-brentford-nu-al-zoveel-betaalt-voor-milambo/) cover comments on Milambo today from Leo Driessen and Danny Koevermans on ESPN’s Voetbalpraat programme.
Milambo has been linked with a move to Brentford for well over a month, with the Bees seemingly keen to sign the 20-year-old this summer.
Talks have already taken place with him but after initial confidence the deal would happen, there has been a determination from Feyenoord to insist that they will not sell on the cheap or make any transfer easy.
That’s seen some suggestions that Milambo was second guessing the idea, but Driessen believes that he should jump at the chance.
_“Brentford is a good, balanced club where you get the opportunity, if the coach stays – to play decent football,”_ he said.
_“That’s what the man stands for. If I were him and he were given the opportunity, I would not hesitate. The best competition in the world and a good club.”_
Reports around the deal have suggested that Brentford would end up paying around €25m for Milambo this summer.
Feyenoord are certainly determined to secure a top price, with sporting director Dennis te Kloese publicly insisting they won’t let the midfielder go cheaply. Indeed, they have been determined to make that clear publicly.
The question is why Brentford would pay such a fee for a youngster who hasn’t exactly set the world alight in the Netherlands, but Koevermans knows why.
_“He just had an okay season, not extremely good. We all still have the first half of the season on our retina, especially with the Champions League,”_ he added.
_“In the second half of the season it became a bit less. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that the boy has a lot of quality. Brentford sees that too._
_“They will also think there is still so much potential in Milambo. They see a lot of potential. Then they buy him now before he maybe has an even better season and then he is €30-35m. They buy him now for €20m, those English clubs can just do that.”_
