Here is the xG from the Leicester game, where I’ve seen the opposition display described by words such as ‘woeful’ and ‘not even a whimper’. They did have the first chance, though, which was a good one (1 in 5) with Skipp slashing wide from inside the box. AFCB immediately had a good chance (1 in 5) when Evanilson dragged one just wide of the far post. 5 minutes later, Brooks met Tavernier’s cross unmarked at the back post, with his volley parried away by Stolarczyk in the Leicester goal, who had a good game (also 1 in 5). We had minor chances, but it was still goalless at the break,k with the xG being AFCB 0.69 Leicester 0.25.
The second half was virtually all Bournemouth’s. Tavernier had a shot well saved from a hard chance (1 in 20), then Semenyo fired high (1 in 6) and Zabarnyi headed over (nearly 1 in 5). Coming into the last 20 minutes, we made the breakthrough, Kluivert looping a ball to the back post, Zabarnyi heading it back into the crowd and Semenyo scuffing it home (1 in 7). Jebbison put a reasonable chance (1 in 7) into the crowd, before Semenyo got a brace in the 87th minute. Huijsen nicked the ball off the defender and it fell to Semenyo who drilled it low into the bottom corner. (1 in 12). The final xG was AFCB 1.62 Leicester 0.27, with Understat having a much bigger margin at AFCB 2.72 Leicester 0.16.

There were 3 changes to the team that lost at Man C. Brooks (7) replaced the suspended Cook, playing on the right with Tavernier (16) moving inside, Smith (15) replaced Araujo at right back and Senesi (5) replaced Huijsen. The first sub came on 63 minutes with Jebbison (21) replacing Brooks (7), I’m not sure what this meant to our formation as I was listening on the radio, but it appears Jebbison played on the right similarly to Brooks. After 78 minutes, Huijsen (2) replaced Senesi (5) in a like-for-like change that allowed Huijsen to get an individual round of applause before he moves. In the 90th minute, and with the game won, we made a triple sub. Scott (8), complete with mask, replaced Kluivert (19), Winterburn (47) replaced Tavernier (16) and Soler (20) replaced Evanilson (9). These three players weren’t on long enough to warrant an average position.
