As we approach the end of May and with Igli Tare operational, the big question now is who will be the new coach of AC Milan?
As Calciomercato.com report, the first move was getting Tare in as the new sporting director and he has begun to make assessments on the future of the squad and the players who will be part of it. However, firm decisions can only happen with some input from the coach.
Milan are searching for Sergio Conceicao’s heir. Many profiles have been identified starting with Vincenzo Italiano, but in the last few hours the alternative Thiago Motta has been gaining more and more ground.
Italiano first, Motta second
Milan want Italiano to become the new manager, but he also promised to meet with Bologna – as he has done twice new – to evaluate the renewal of his current contract, expiring at the end of next season.
The offer on the table is for the project to continue with him having a greater influence, plus a pay rise to €3.4m net per season after winning the Coppa Italia. This is rightly tempting Italiano, so Milan have been forced to also consider alternative ideas.

Thus, there have been direct contacts with the entourage of Thiago Motta, the former Juventus coach who was fired on March 23. It was a request for information, a survey to understand the feasibility and requests of the Italian-Brazilian coach.
It is nothing concrete, but a first step has been taken. It must be remembered that in order to sign with Milan or any other club, Motta would first have to find an agreement with Juventus to terminate his deal with them.
He is technically currently still under contract with Juve until 2027 earning €4.6m net per year gross with the advantages of the Growth Decree, which could also be activated by Milan in the event of signing a new contract.
