Report: Julian Alvarez’s future sealed after Atletico Madrid president makes bold claim amid Liverpool links

Arne Slot has already had a busy summer transfer window with Liverpool, even though it hasn’t even been opened.

The Reds were one of the most dominant teams in the Premier League this season despite the Anfield outfit not adding any first-team regulars to their ranks.

Granted, things didn’t exactly go their way in the cup competitions, but the fact that they’re now the champions of England outlines how good they’ve actually been this term.

Several players have been linked with a Liverpool move, with some, such as Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, edging closer and closer each day.

However, not all of the players who have been linked with Liverpool, such as Julian Alvarez, now seem likely to make the switch.

Atletico Madrid president says that Julian Alvarez is very happy in Spain

Alvarez is a curious case. When called upon by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, the Argentina international was always in top form.

However, due to the importance of Erling Haaland to the Cityzens last season, he wasn’t given all that many opportunities to prove his worth.

And, after an impressive season in La Liga, it’s not a surprise to see Alvarez being linked with another move away.

However, after what Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo said about his future, it seems that a move is off the table.

“Julian Alvarez is a player of Atletico de Madrid. He’s very happy here, he is our player and he will remain our player,” he said in quotes summarised by the Daily Mirror.

“He was raised at Atletico Madrid and he will die at Atletico Madrid.”

Two strikers Liverpool could go for instead of Julian Alvarez this summer

It’s already been made fairly clear that Liverpool are set for a summer of change with players such as Wirtz and Frimpong edging ever-closer to an Anfield move.

And, even though both of these players will improve Slot’s ranks tenfold, Liverpool’s number nine is still going to be an issue.

Darwin Nunez is being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, while Luis Diaz is also being admired by Barcelona.

And, if one or both of these players leave, the Reds will be in a bit of a pickle.

Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres are two strikers that Liverpool could target to bolster their ranks.

Viktor Gyokeres 52 54 13

Both have had incredible seasons for their respective clubs, and even though Isak is the striker who’s linked with Liverpool most often, Gyokeres would be a more than interesting player to make a move for.

Indeed, only time will tell what the future holds for Liverpool, but if they manage to get one of these signings over the line, they’ll have done an impeccable job.
