Crystal Palace star seen as ‘more cost-effective’ transfer – Former teammate may put in a good word

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze is seen as a more ‘cost-effective’ target for Bayern Munich this summer, after being turned down by Florian Wirtz.

That’s [according to SportBILD](https://sportbild.bild.de/fussball/fc-bayern-muenchen/fc-bayern-mega-klausel-bei-wirtz-alternative-eze-683598c98063414c22afb03c), who report that Eze is very much on Bayern’s list as they look for an alternative to Wirtz this summer.

They explain that Bayern would have been willing to dig deep into their pockets for Wirtz, with Bayer Leverkusen wanting no less than €150m for him.

Eze won’t cost that much, with reports in England claiming that he has a €60m release clause in his current Crystal Palace contract. That also includes bonus payments of €8m.

That’s still a big price but it would make him considerably cheaper than Wirtz and Bayern see him as ‘cost-effective’ option.

They are also hoping to use two factors to their advantage too. The first is their good relationship with Crystal Palace after the deal for Michael Olise last season. The second is the Frenchman himself, who could ‘put in a good word’ for the German champions with his former teammate.

Bayern can’t progress until they sell players first though. Generating revenue from sales is a pre-requisite for them this summer. Several stars are on the transfer list, including Kingsley Coman, Raphael Guerreiro, Sacha Boey, Bryan Zaragoza, João Palhinha, Minjae Kim, and Mathys Tel.

That means they can’t move for Eze straight away, which we’re sure Crystal Palace fans will be delighted to hear as they face the prospect of another star departing this summer.
