Shevchenko remembers 2003 UCL win over Juventus with video: “Moments that will last forever”

Today marks 22 years to the day since AC Milan defeated Juventus in the Champions League final at Old Trafford, and Andriy Shevchenko has marked the anniversary on social media.

After beating Inter in the semi-final, Milan headed to Manchester with the chance to complete a double over their biggest rivals to lift their sixth European Cup, but it ended up being a way more dramatic night than many expected.

It was the first time two clubs from Italy had faced each other in the final and the nerves showed. After a goalless 120 minutes, the game was decided via a penalty shoot-out in which Dida was the hero and Shevchenko slotted in the winner.

The Ukrainian striker posted on his X profile to mark the occasions with the caption: “That journey. That team. Moments that will last forever. Thank you AC Milan.”

Quel viaggio.

Quel gruppo.

Momenti che dureranno per sempre.

Grazie @acmilan ❤️🖤
