Report: Wolves now discover £25m Troy Parrott asking price, but there's a problem

Wolves will be looking to strengthen their pool of forward options this summer, and Troy Parrott has apparently been a player on the club’s radar.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has had a fantastic first season at Molineux.

But next term he will need back-up and competition, as Wolves look to push on.

Sasa Kalajdzic might need a loan move after coming back from his second serious knee injury at Wolves and third of his career.

And Fabio Silva is expected to leave Wolves permanently.

Wolves are interested in Troy Parrott, who has enjoyed a wonderful campaign over in the Netherlands with AZ Alkmaar which saw him score 20 goals in 47 appearances.

But the club’s hopes of potentially signing him this summer may have just been dashed.

A few days ago, it had been reported by De Telegraaf that AZ Alkmaar were looking for around £25 million to sell the player this summer.

That would likely be at the very top end of Wolves’ budget in terms of fees to be spent on single players.

But potentially, this could now be a non-starter anyway, given what Parrott has said about his future.

In what is a blow to Wolves and other clubs interested in him, he said: “Whatever happens, it’s not going to be my decision… If someone asked me now, I would say I want to stay.

“I’ve had the best year of my life in football so far. I’ve loved every second of it. I am focused. In my mind I will be here next season. I am ready to go again.”

Wolves cannot move for Parrott after what Vitor Pereira recently said

Potentially, AZ Alkmaar will still entertain interest in the player. The asking price of £25 million surely will not deter some clubs that are looking for a centre-forward.

But the player has made it clear what he wants this summer, and that is to stay put.

Appearances – 47

Minutes played – 3432

Goals – 20

Assists – 5

So as much as AZ Alkmaar may want to cash in, it wouldn’t be what the player wants and that gives them a problem.

Vitor Pereira recently stated he wants players who want to play for Wolves and enjoy being in Wolverhampton. He does not want players to join just for greater wages or because they want to play in the Premier League.

Given what Parrott has said, Wolves surely cannot push for him unless he has a big change of heart in the coming weeks.
