Liverpool player’s brother posts cryptic message amid Leeds United rumours

Leeds United are in the market for players with Premier League experience this summer, and the brother of one player on the Elland Road shortlist has dropped a hint about his future.

Leeds need a new goalkeeper, options at both centre-back and left-back, a midfielder or two, Manor Solomon permanently and a better Brenden Aaronson, as well as a proven top-flight centre-forward.

The need for a left-back has emerged due to Junior Firpo’s impending exit. The Dominican Republic international is out of contract at the end of June and it is ‘widely anticipated’ that Firpo will now leave.

Leeds need a left-back and have been linked with a few options. One is Liverpool’s Greek defender Konstantinos Tsimikas, who is believed to be rated in the £15m region by the Premier League champions.

Konstantinos Tsimikas’ brother drops hint on Liverpool future

Tsimikas has spent the last five years at Liverpool, playing back-up to Andy Robertson. Now, Arne Slot wants to bring Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez to Anfield for £45m, and has been given the green light.

Slot has made a decision on which of the two left-backs he would like to keep at Anfield if Kerkez does arrive. Liverpool are now willing to listen to offers for Tsimikas and Leeds are eyeing a move for him.

Posting on Instagram, Tsimikas’ brother Stergios – who is also a professional footballer – hinted at the left-back’s future at Anfield. He said there’s “more to come” from Tsimikas, whether that is at Liverpool or not.

The issue Leeds face in signing Tsimikas from Liverpool…

Liverpool continue to be one of the biggest clubs in world football and with that, means contracts are expensive. Even for back-up players, wages will be enormous and Tsimikas is an example of that.

Graeme Bailey told LeedsUnited.News that he thinks Tsimikas would be Leeds’ highest-paid player if he joined the club this summer and remained on the same wages he currently earns with Liverpool.

Leeds need to weigh up whether Tsimikas is worth not only spending a big chunk of their transfer budget on, but also if he is worthy of breaking the club’s wage structure. Leeds may need to negotiate a pay cut.
