Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr looks on.

Manchester United icon Cristiano Ronaldo faces an uncertain future at Al-Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo's cryptic hint on his future has received a response from Manchester United.

Despite being in the twilight of his illustrious career, Ronaldo has maintained that he's not finished with football just yet. Following a high-profile and contentious exit from United, Ronaldo has been showcasing his skills in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr since December 2022.

The 40-year-old veteran, famous for his two stints at Old Trafford and an incredible nine years at Real Madrid, stepped away from the European spotlight nearly three years ago when he moved to the Middle East. Now, it seems Ronaldo is hinting that his time in Saudi Arabia may be coming to an end. The Portuguese star's contract with the club is set to expire on June 30 this year.

"This chapter is over," he said on Instagram.

"The story? Still being written. Grateful to all."

Ronaldo's post has received support from two current United players. Portugal teammates Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot have liked the post.

Ronaldo's message comes after recent claims from FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, that "discussions" are ongoing for Ronaldo to feature in the Club World Cup this summer - a tournament Al-Nassr have not qualified for.

Speaking to YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed on Friday, the FIFA chief said: "Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup. There are discussions..."

He added: "Yeah. Cristiano Ronaldo might play in the Club World Cup, yeah. There are discussions with some clubs.

"So if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup... who knows, who knows."

The tournament - which will be held in the United States - kicks off on June 15 with Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich among the most notable European teams taking part.
