Report: Arsenal make contact to sign 'one of the best dribblers in the world' from Premier…

Arsenal have stepped up their interest in a summer move for Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma, journalist Sebastien Vidal has revealed.

The Gunners have reportedly made contact regarding the Japan international’s potential availability, having earmarked him as a possible reinforcement on the wing.

Mitoma is also being targeted by Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich ahead of the transfer window reopening, and was heavily linked with a Brighton departure in January.

The Seagulls rejected two bids from the Saudi Pro League for the 28-year-old winger at the time, with the second offer reaching £61m.

Arsenal are expected to bring in a new wide forward to complement Mikel Arteta’s attacking options this summer and have identified Mitoma as another option, alongside Athletic Bilbao ace Nico Williams and Real Madrid star Rodrygo.

The Gunners were heavily linked with Williams last summer, while Rodrygo has recently emerged as a potential target amid uncertainty surrounding his future in the Spanish capital.

Mitoma, praised as ‘one of the best dribblers in the world’, has been a key player under Fabian Hurzeler at Brighton this season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 36 Premier League appearances.

The 28-year-old, who is under contract until June 2027, finished the season in strong form, scoring three goals and registering one assist in his final five top-flight matches.

Arsenal are anticipated to announce Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as their first summer signing, having reached an agreement in principle with the Spanish international earlier this month.

The Gunners are expected to activate the Euro 2024 winner’s €60m (£51m) release clause and sign him to a long-term deal.
