Manchester United are looking close to missing out on a key attacking signing this summer as Newcastle United plan a move for the talented forward.
United’s summer overhaul of their squad, in particular their attack, has already begun, with Matheus Cunha all set to join the Red Devils when the transfer window opens on 1st June.
Wolves have agreed for a medical assessment for the striker to be booked as the two clubs have agreed terms for the payment of Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause.
However, United aren’t stopping with Cunha. The Red Devils are still in conversations with Liam Delap, having agreed to pay his £30 million release clause with Ipswich Town.
Alongside the pair, United are also targeting a move for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, which now may be in jeopardy.

The Telegraph has reported that Newcastle are now planning their first move for Mbeumo, with The Magpies seeing the 25-year-old as a key target for Eddie Howe’s squad next season.
Newcastle United sporting director Paul Mitchell is all set to leave the club in June, but has got everything in place for the club’s targets for the summer before he departs.
A source close to the situation commented: “Everything is in place, all the work that has been done on players has been finished and now we have to push the button and get those deals done. We know who we want.”
This shows their understanding that they aren’t the only horse in the race for Mbeumo or other key target Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace.
With 20 goals and eight assists in 38 Premier League games this season, Mbeumo’s impact in the league is undeniable and as such it’s no surprise that several teams are looking at the attacker to strengthen their squad.
As everything is seemingly in place, Newcastle are hoping to beat United to signing the proven Premier League attacker, with the Red Devils reliant on generating funds through sales to get any more deals across the line.
Despite financial limitations, CentreDevils has reported that United have made contact for Mbeuno and could be looking to use Christian Eriksen as a lure to help a move to Old Trafford take place.
