Big on the shopping list at London Stadium is a box-to-box midfielder in the Steven Gerrard style. If such a player exists below £30 million then the Hammers would do well to sign him. One such talent is Danish midfielder Morton Frendrup, as Gonzo first set out [back earlier in May](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfers-hammers-target-complete-midfielder-in-serie-a-raid/) labelling Frendrup the ‘complete midfielder’.
In their ‘exclusive’ article “_Hammers Among Sides Circling for Frendrup”_ [givemesport.com](https://www.givemesport.com/exclusive-morten-frendrup-interview-genoa-west-ham-united-links-world-cup-hopes/) set out the interest which the 23 year old is creating heading into the summer window:
_“Frendrup’s stamina, tenacity and composure on the ball have caught the attention of West Ham United, AC Milan and Fiorentina, with Genoa prepared to sanction a sale for around £17million this summer. Back in the summer of 2023, Liverpool also held a historical interest, a club Frendrup watched plenty of when growing up.”_
Just what West Ham are looking for, according to _givemesport_ again:
_“Frendrup is a complete midfielder, capable of playing as a six or an eight. Frendrup has managed two Serie A goals in each of the last three seasons, and he is now working on enhancing his offensive numbers”_
Genoa are also making interesting noises about wanting to extend the loan of Hammers Maxi Cornet. Suddenly the Irons have a bargaining chip in the hunt for a good quality young, dynamic midfielder: Genoa’s manager Patrik Viera is known to rate Cornet and would certainly be disposed to see his loan spell extended as bargaining chip should Frendrup move permanently to London Stadium.
A deal there to be done. Who’d have though Cornet could finally become so useful to West Ham!
