The past few years haven’t been the kindest to the Atlanta Falcons.
After being nearly a lock for the playoffs each season during Matt Ryan’s prime, the Falcons haven’t made it to the postseason since 2017.
They’ve gone through a lot of roster turnover and coaching changes, which haven’t resulted in the positive change the organization expected.
Falcons fans are waiting to see how things will turn out in 2025, especially since Kirk Cousins is still on the roster, but every indication is that Michael Penix Jr. will be the starting quarterback this year.
Fans were reminded of a fateful playoff result from the Falcons’ social media team, which Dov Kleiman highlighted on X.
The social media team posted a photo of Jessie Bates III and Mike Ford Jr. in their jerseys, who wear No. 3 and No. 28, respectively.
This was a not-so-subtle homage to the team’s 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl, which they ended up blowing and eventually lost to the New England Patriots.
The Falcons intern definitely got fired 😭😭

As Kleiman mentioned, the person responsible for this post likely got fired, as it was a fateful day in the organization’s history.
This team hasn’t been the same since, and it will be interesting to see if they can get back to being a team that is a regular in the playoff race.
The NFC South is slated to be led by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2025, but the Falcons could put it all together and compete, assuming everyone is united around Penix in the QB room.
