Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Mark Krosche has already expressed uncertainty surrounding the future of star forward Hugo Ekitike following Liverpool links. According to reports in Germany, the Reds are ready to enter talks with the Bundesliga club to land the France under-21 international.
Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg claimed on Wednesday that Arne Slot's side are 'seriously' in the race for Ekitike. It was suggested that Chelsea were their main rivals over the €100million-rated (around £83m) forward but the German outfit were yet to receive any offers.
BILD followed it up shortly after and reported that Liverpool were in a two-horse race with the Londoners after Arsenal pulled out of the running to focus on Viktor Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko as the answer to their strike problems.

Liverpool have already been busy before the first stage of the summer transfer window opens (on June 1, before closing on June 10) as they close in on a deal to sign Jeremie Frimpong.
The Reds are also interested in another Bundesliga winner with Bayer Leverkusen as Slot eyes a potentially record-breaking deal to sign Florian Wirtz. BILD add that the Premier League champions are prepared to 'dig deep' despite their ongoing pursuit of the Germany international.
"He's one of the most interesting strikers on the European market," Krösche told Sport 1.
"Hugo has to decide that. I'm glad we have him.
"If he decides otherwise, that's our motto: If a player develops faster than us, we let him go."
Liverpool wrapped up the Premier League title with less than a month to spare but finally got their hands on the silverware on Sunday following their draw with Crystal Palace. The next challenge for the Dutchman is ensuring that the Reds can successfully defend their top-flight crown
And during his post-match interview, he failed to be drawn on any speculation but said it is already a "very, very positive" summer after keeping Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
"I don't know if it's going to be a lot but we know, the club, Richard [Hughes], the ownership, we are all aligned on what we are trying to achieve," he said.
"It is already very, very positive that we kept Mo and Virgil and a few others that we are trying to sign look positive.
"We are very happy with the squad that we have. This club has always shown that if they can strengthen, that's what we do.
"Big summer or not, it is already big because we won the league."
