[Liverpool](https://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/) have had enviable goalkeeping depth in recent seasons, with starter Alisson Becker in the conversation as the best in the world and backup Caoimhin Kelleher widely considered good enough to start for around half the teams in the Premier League.
It was never a situation that could last forever, though. In fact, it’s a mild surprise it’s lasted this long, with Kelleher linked with a move away for the past two summers and the 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international knowing he likely needs to change clubs if he ever wants to be a starter.
This summer, though, a move seems certain. And according to Sky Sports, Brentford have now [made an approach](https://x.com/SkySportsLyall/status/1927708322523709454) to sign the goalkeeper.
It’s potentially part of a larger goalkeeper reshuffle, with Brentford said to be open to selling current starter Mark Flekken to Bayern Leverkusen, who themselves have also been at least lightly linked with Kelleher as they undertake a search for a new starting goalkeeper.
Last summer, Liverpool set an initial valuation of £35M for the goalkeeper, reflecting the fact that the club believe he’s good enough to walk into the starting lineup for at least a mid-table Premier League side. That valuation scared off any potential takers and there were some reports the asking price dropped as the window wore on.
With the player set to enter the final year of his Liverpool contract, it’s not clear what the Reds could expect to fetch for him this summer, but Kelleher once again looked more than good enough to be a starter when called upon to fill in for Alisson this past season.
