The extra recruit needed to kick off West Ham ‘s summer

West Ham’s season finale at Ipswich saw the leavers make their farewells with waves and social media posts. [Lucas Fabianski](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-mull-fabianski-sale-as-areola-era-dawns/) in particular was happy to be selected ‘one more time’ to finish off his several years service as a Hammer on the pitch rather than in the dugout.

One notable absentee from the whole squad was West Ham’s long serving **Emerson Palmeri**. Another Prague medal winner, the Brazilian wasn’t even named in the travelling side for Sunday’s curtain call and he has long been the subject of rumours of a sale: In the winter window Emerson was linked with a £10m move to Juventus.

His own social media post on Sunday was pretty poignant and suggests he’s on borrowed time as Graham Potter seeks fresh blood and younger talent. Emerson posted on his own x account (@emersonpalmieri): _Time is the answer for everything ❤️‍🔥_

A pretty clear indicator that Emerson is on his way out of the door this summer.

Which is slightly worrying: Aaron Cresswell and Vlad Coufal leaving means the Hammers have only Wan-Bissaka and Ollie Scarles- _either they are pretty confident that out of contract Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters  is a done deal or they’re taking a massive risk_ letting both full backs – and Emerson -leave.

All the talk is of strengthening the midfield and striker positions but I’d suggest _a new full back_ is a nailed-on certainty.

Tying down free agent Walker-Peters would be a shrewd piece of business and an early ‘win’ without the massive multi million transfer fee spend: Walker Peters ticks a lot of boxes.

For West Ham’s sake we hope they can nail down ‘KWP’ fast before one of his other many Premier League suitors nip in on a steal.
