Ange Postecoglou is expected to lose his job despite leading Tottenham to Europa League glory
Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham Hotspur remains up in the air despite leading the club to their first piece of silverware after 17 long years last week.
Spurs clinched the Europa League trophy by beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final in Bilbao, and by doing so, also qualified for next season’s Champions League. However, Ange Postecoglou also oversaw the worst Premier League campaign in the North London club’s history, as they finished in 17th place, with their lowest ever points total. The 4-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on the final day of the season meant they recorded a staggering 22 league losses.
Daniel Levy faces a tough decision to make now, although the way in which he is scouring the market for managerial replacements points to only one outcome. If a change at the helm is made at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it is because of the Lilywhites’ awful league form.
Ange Postecoglou has lived up to his promise of winning a trophy in his second season at clubs
Reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham feels Ange Postecoglou must take up another Premier League job if sacked by Daniel Levy. He feels the Greek-Australian tactician will not find it difficult to land a job in the Premier League after doing the unthinkable at Tottenham.
“If I were him, I would just wait for the first Premier League job to come up next season,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“You know, if you want to stay in England. But if you’re the manager that gets Tottenham over the line when Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino couldn’t do it, your stock is held incredibly high.
“It’s a major European trophy that we’ve won, the second biggest one you can win. That makes us the fourth most successful English club ever in Europe.
“To have three of those trophies is massive. And the beauty of it is that it reminds people of the other trophies you’ve won as well. So, I’m sure Postecoglou will have no problems getting another job now.”

Ange has fulfilled one main objective of the season by winning the Europa League. He has royally failed to build on his debut season in the Premier League, and finishing just a spot above the three relegated sides is totally unacceptable for a club of such stature and history. For that alone, the ex-Celtic boss could lose his job, and as per reliable journalist David Ornstein, Ange will not be surprised.
Having won the second prestigious European trophy, the Australian’s stock will be high and that could help him land a job in the Premier League if he’s sacked by Spurs. But give the respect he has for our club, it’d be difficult to see Ange take up a role at a Premier League club if offered now or in midst of the new season.
