Chelsea and Manchester City have likely build a strong business relationship in the past few years as the likes of Cole Palmer, Raheem Sterling and Mateo Kovacic have played for both clubs.
While Palmer’s sale in particular has haunted Manchester City, they were perhaps open to doing business with the Blues due to the gulf in class between both sides.
But with Chelsea finishing just one spot behind City in fourth place during the 2024/2025 season, the gap between both sides is not what it was in the past.
While Pep Guardiola backs Manchester City to win the title sooner rather than later they are merely a team contending for top four, just like Enzo Maresca’s side currently.
Chelsea considering signing Man City star Jeremy Doku
Journalist Simon Phillips has reported via Substack that Chelsea are considering signing Jeremy Doku in the summer — as they potentially intend to weaken City.
As things stand, the West Londoners are believed to be holding internal discussions about whether to sign Doku, who Pep Guardiola called “incredible” just a month ago.

However, as things stand, Chelsea’s pursuit to sign the Belgian has not reached an advanced stage.
Considering Manchester City signed Doku for £55.5 million as recently as in 2023, whether they would be open to selling him to a domestic rival like Chelsea remains to be seen.
Chelsea legend Eden Hazard has already shared his verdict on Doku
While Thierry Henry advised Doku to improve his game, his quality cannot be questioned.
The 23-year-old is one of the best dribblers on the planet, frighteningly quick, direct and has the match-winning ability to turn games on their head.
Perhaps next season, Doku could become more productive but a return of six goals and nine assists in 21 starts during the previous campaign remains an impressive return for the former Rennes wideman.

With Jack Grealish being targeted by AC Milan as he could be set for the exit door in the summer, the Premier League winner could very well be given more responsibility in the following campaign.
However, Doku is reportedly unsettled at Manchester City and might be looking to leave as well.
The Stamford Bridge faithful will be happy to know that Eden Hazard is a huge fan of Doku.
Hazard said: “He has everything. He has everything and he’s now with Pep Guardiola. Guardiola’s going to teach him everything also.”
