Arsenal will need to pay £92.5 million to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this summer, according to reports.

Having ended the season without a trophy, Mikel Arteta is keen for Arsenal to recruit a new striker in the summer transfer window.

Sesko, and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres are both on Arsenal’s shortlist, although the Gunners also face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Last week, reports in Germany claimed that Arsenal had begun talks with RB Leipzig over a potential deal for Sesko this summer.

However, The Telegraph are now reporting that the Bundesliga side are holding out for a huge £92.5m fee for Sesko.

The 21-year-old has ended the campaign with 21 goals in 45 matches for RB Leipzig but the German club are set to take a huge financial hit after finishing seventh in the Bundesliga and missing out on European football for next season.

RB Leipzig are understood to be open to offers for Sesko and the German side’s sporting director, Marcel Schafer, has held talks with Andrea Berta, his opposite number at Arsenal.

The Slovenia international joined RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg for €24m (£20.6m) in 2023 and signed a five-year contract which included a £55m release clause.

When asked about his future earlier this month, Sesko said: ‘We’ll see what happens. It’s open, anything can happen.’

RB Leipzig are currently in Brazil for a post-season friendly against Santos but will be without Sesko, who missed a training session on Tuesday due to a knee injury.
