Caoimhin Kelleher could be on his way to West Ham once the transfer window opens.

The Hammers are in desperate need of a new keeper after the departure of Lukasz Fabianski at the end of his contract in East London.

This comes after a difficult campaign for number one keeper Alphonse Areola, who has made a number of mistakes in his spell at the London Stadium.

Now, the Irons could make an approach for the Republic of Ireland international who is seemingly on his way out of Anfield this summer.

West Ham to make swoop for Kelleher

There is no doubt that Graham Potter will be on the lookout for a new shot stopper once the summer window opens.

As it stands, the E20 club will be heading into the new campaign with just one senior keeper, which is clearly unsustainable.

This could see an approach for Liverpool’s number two Kelleher make complete sense for the Hammers and the Irishman.

With that being said, there are already a number of clubs in the running for the 26-year-old as the Liverpool Echo reported (28 May) that Brentford have now expressed their interest ahead of the summer.

With the Reds’ number 62 being in the final 12 months of his contract on Merseyside, offers in excess of £20million could be accepted by Arne Slot’s side.

The Bees may have made their interest known at this stage, but a decision won’t be made by the goalkeeper yet, with West Ham already showing a definite interest in his signature.

Kelleher could be perfect for West Ham

There is no hiding from the fact that a new keeper is needed at the London Stadium, and the Irishman could be the ideal option.

Potter will have the option to utilise a young option like Lanre Awesu, but his lack of experience will prove to be a huge risk.

It is fair to say that Kelleher isn’t without his risk, given his situation of being a number two at Anfield for many years.

Although that may be the case, the shot-stopper may prove to be an excellent pickup for just £20m moving into the summer window.
