Everton are looking to sign Carlos Alcaraz on a permanent deal to kick off a pivotal summer transfer window.

The Merseyside club will look to kick off their next campaign in style as they move over to the recently named Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Friedkin Group seem intent on retaining Blues legend David Moyes, and will look to back their manager as the Scotsman tries to build on a promising end to the campaign.

Everton have already announced the release of four senior players, as well as the return of all their loan players to their parent clubs, but they are focused on bringing Alcaraz back.

Everton will be wary of the time pressure to secure the deal, but will feel more confident with the latest development.

Everton to reach agreement for midfielder valued at £30m

Alcaraz has impressed in fits and starts as he adapted to life in the Premier League on loan from Brazilian side Flamengo.

The versatile midfielder scored the winning goal in Everton’s final-day 1-0 victory against Newcastle on his third start in four games, showing signs of acclimatising from the Championship.

The 22-year-old did not meet the conditional obligations to trigger a transfer, which has led to speculation whether Everton will secure a deal for what is now thought to be in the region of £15m.

Ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – estimates Alcaraz’s value at up to £30million and believes that Everton will therefore make sure the transfer for the Argentine goes.

“I’m pretty sure an agreement can be reached,” King said.

“I imagine Alcaraz would like to play in the Premier League. Everton were the ones who brought him there. Perhaps the loan period could be extended, or there might be a fee agreed.

“This is a £20-30m player that we’re talking about. I think it is different when you’re dealing with a Brazilian club.

“The other players are playing in Europe, which is easier to handle than having to deal with a player on loan with a Brazilian club.

“In those situations, you tend to get little complications which involve money.”

Everton need to target goalscorers

Alcaraz’s newfound ability to affect the game in front of goal will be an encouraging sign for Everton, who only had Iliman Ndiaye and Beto find the back of the net on more than four occasions this campaign.

Sean Dyche‘s prior influence in squad building means the club have veered their focus towards defensive football, which has benefited Moyes in the short term.

With the owners now firmly looking forward rather than behind them, they must be more ambitious with their signings and bring game changers and goal scorers to the Merseyside club.
