“Apparently...” - Insider drops exciting claim he’s now heard about Liam Delap to Everton

Everton boss David Moyes watching on from the touchline

Liam Delap was very impressed by the pitch from Everton about a move to Merseyside this summer, according to insider Keith Wyness.

The Toffees are looking to bolster their attacking options after finishing the season in 13th place in the Premier League, after David Moyes guided them to safety after he replaced Sean Dyche in January.

With a move to the newly-named Hill Dickinson Stadium coming up next season, plus new owners The Friedkin Group looking to make a splash in the transfer market too to strengthen the squad, a new striker is seen as a priority.

With Armando Broja returning to Chelsea following a failed loan at Goodison Park, and question marks remaining over the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the club have identified Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap as a top target.

The 22-year-old has a £30m release clause after he was part of the squad relegated to the Championship, and the Blues have already held talks with him about a move.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United have also held talks with Delap over a move but while talking to Football Insider, Wyness, who is the former CEO of Everton, revealed that he has been told the young forward was "very impressed" by what Everton had to say.

“Liam Delap, it’s previously been said, would consider moving to a club with European football – it’s not the case with Man United.

“Any player moving to United has got to consider that they are a club in turmoil right now.

“It’s a very unhappy place. We know the dressing room is in turmoil.

“They’ve got to be able to attract players in, and I don’t think they’re going to be able to get some of these deals across the line.

“Delap has been talking to Newcastle and Everton.

“Apparently he was very impressed with the Everton pitch, so we’ll wait and see."

Delap netted 12 goals in the Premier League despite being in a side that finished with just 36 goals scored throughout the season, a total only more than the other two relegated teams.

Everton have already confirmed that Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom will also leave the club after their respective loan spells, meaning new attackers will almost certainly come in this summer.
