Rangers are yet to confirm their new manager for next season, but Davide Ancelotti is quickly emerging as a frontrunner.

The Italian has served as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant across his last four clubs, and has now left Real Madrid alongside his father.

While the veteran has been appointed by Brazil, Ancelotti has decided not to follow him, and believes he is the number one choice of Rangers.

The 49ers Enterprises are set to complete a takeover at Ibrox, and as admirers of Ancelotti, they could back him with some blockbuster signings, if he is appointed.

Ancelotti could bring Real Madrid players to Rangers

Ancelotti has worked closely on a day-by-day basis with the Real Madrid squad, and if he does take the Rangers job, he could bring players with him.

Luka Modric has been offered a move to Rangers by Ancelotti, and is yet to decline, after the Ballon d’Or winner announced he will leave the Bernabeu this summer.

Ferland Mendy and David Alaba are both close to the exit door at the Santiago Bernabeu, and both have been linked with shock moves if Ancelotti convinces them to follow him to Glasgow.

Rangers will rebuild their squad across several different areas, and may also target a wide-range of players as part of a complete makeover after a dismal season.

James Tavernier could keep his place for some continuity, but may eventually be phased out of the squad, while Rangers fans will hope Nicolas Raskin stays after his outstanding campaign.

Rangers have also been linked with Djurgarden winger Oskar Fallenius, and will hope to beat Celtic to his signature.

Upfront, Cyriel Dessers could leave despite breaking goalscoring records, and this could create more opportunities for Hamza Igamane to stamp his mark on the team.

Rangers to keep Vaclav Cerny amid superstar arrivals

Once the American takeover is complete, fans will hope that Wolfsburg loanee Vaclav Cerny stays after his outstanding campaign, with the winger a crucial figure under Barry Ferguson and Philippe Clement.

While the signings from Real Madrid are long-shots, they will become even a remote possibility if Ancelotti joins, and these would be such incredible statements that the likes of Raskin and Cerny could be convinced to stay.

Cerny is said to be available for another loan with a £7.5million eventual price tag, but despite the dismal campaign Rangers endured, he is one of a few players definitely worth keeping if a deal becomes possible.

Rangers will need the takeover completed quickly if such ambitious signings are to arrive, but the fact the door is even slightly open for some global superstars to move to Ibrox makes the potential Ancelotti appointment even more exciting.

A massive summer awaits in Govan.
