From Spain: Real Madrid could snatch Florian Wirtz from Liverpool clutches, could be part of Trent game

Real Madrid could snatch Florian Wirtz from Liverpool’s clutches, with the Spanish giants receiving ‘sensations’ that the deal is not completely done.

That’s [according to AS](https://as.com/futbol/primera/wirtz-no-es-imposible-n/?id_externo_rsoc=CM_ES_TW), who report that the deal taking him to Liverpool is not signed yet and that gives them confidence of potentially doing a deal.

The newspaper reports that ‘there’s a game’ with Wirtz, and Madrid are refusing to throw the towel in at this moment in time.

Liverpool appeared to be closing in on a deal for the Bayer Leverkusen star after their decisive move to convince him on a move to Anfield over joining Bayern Munich. There has been confidence in Germany and England that would be done. That came after it appeared to be a battle between Bayern, Manchester City and Real Madrid for him.

But while Liverpool are opening the chequebook, the Spanish side are ‘playing with other cards’. They’ve recently appointed Xabi Alonso as their manager. He worked with and got the best out of Wirtz at Leverkusen and Madrid can use that.

It seems that they may be hoping that Alonso can convince the player into the move and to turn down Liverpool at the same time.

We, though, suspect this could have something to Trent Alexander-Arnold. Liverpool are still demanding a fee so he can play at the Club World Cup, something Madrid have shown a reluctance to pay.

It would be very Madrid, read Florentino Perez, to suggest to the media that they’ll involve themselves in the Wirtz battle, just as a potential scare tactic to Liverpool to get their way with Alexander-Arnold.

Of course, that’s just speculation on our part, but it would make sense, and not beyond the realms of possibility given the battle for Wirtz looked long won by the Reds.
