Manchester United suffered a terrible start to their tour of Asia with a 1-0 defeat to ASEAN All-Stars in Kuala Lumpur.
The 2024/25 season ended in misery with Manchester United losing the all-important Europa League final to Tottenham.
Instead of heading off for their summer break, Ineos organised a post-season tour of Asia which is expected to bring in over £8 million for the club.
The first of two friendlies came against ASEAN All-Stars and Ruben Amorim made the most of his 32-man tour squad but ended up suffering defeat.
There were plenty of valuable minutes for United’s academy stars, with only one player left on the bench.

Altay Bayindir left out of Man United’s ASEAN All-Stars defeat
There are nine unseen United academy stars who joined the first team for the tour of Asia, and all nine were given an opportunity to impress on Wednesday afternoon.
Amorim played two separate XIs either side of half-time and also made changes midway through each half.
Andre Onana started in goal for the first half before being replaced by Tom Heaton at the break. United’s third goalkeeper Altay Bayindir was the only player in the squad who didn’t play a single minute.

Bayindir escaped a humiliating mistake between the sticks for United against Aston Villa, when the referee controversially disallowed a goal.
That could well prove to be his final game in a United shirt.
Altay Bayindir snub points towards Man United star leaving
It is no secret that there will be a major squad overhaul at United this season with Ineos targeting £100m in sales.
Three United players have already departed and plenty more will follow them out the door at Old Trafford.
During the January transfer window, reports claimed Amorim wanted two new goalkeepers, and neither Onana nor Bayindir has impressed enough in the second half of the season to change his mind.

Bayindir expects to stay at United according to his end-of-season message, but Amorim’s snub in Malaysia is the latest hint that he will join those leaving the club this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Besiktas have bid for Bayindir ahead of the summer window, and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the shot-stopper return to Turkey.
