If PSG win Saturday’s Champions League final against Inter Milan, they will parade on Paris’ Champs-Elysées avenue the following day, according to L’Equipe. The outlet adds that the Ligue 1 champions and local authorities have reached an agreement in principle to plan a parade on Sunday on one of the most beautiful avenues in the world. Paris’ eighth arrondissement Mayor Jeanne d’Hauteserre told AFP that local authorities were initially not in favor of a parade, due to the shopkeepers’ fear of serious disturbances.
“It is agreed that, at the request of PSG and with the approval of the Elysée – the French president’s office and residence – there will be a parade, in the event of victory, between the Champs-Élysées roundabout and the Arc de Triomphe.”Local authorities have also confirmed that special arrangements would be put in place as early as Saturday, 7pm, with the Champs-Élysées avenue to be closed to traffic.
In addition, Paris City Hall has decided that the Eiffel Tower will light up in red and blue throughout the game on Saturday and will sparkle with each PSG goal.
