Victor opens on his future and talks Barca goalkeepers

Pau Victor has been chatting about a few topics following the end of Barcelona’s 2024-25 season.

The striker is set to play for a Catalan national team in a friendly against Costa Rica on Wednesday and spoke to COPE before the game.

First up was the topic of whether he will stay at the club following a season where he struggled for minutes.

“We still don’t know. Everyone knows that I haven’t had minutes, but I’m at Barça, at the best club in the world and it’s a pleasure,” he told reporters.

“I would like to continue, but there are things that do not depend on me either. Many things have to be talked about and we will end up deciding what is best for everyone. I don’t know if they will bring people.

“All the players, when we don’t play, I wouldn’t like to do it anymore because we are ambitious.

“It has been a year of great learning, I am being able to enjoy every day the best players in the world, my idols. My relationship with Flick has been very good. He cares about everyone and that makes it very easy. When you don’t play, it’s for you, it encourages you to keep working because it trusts everyone.”

Victor was also quizzed on the goalkeeping situation amid speculation Joan Garcia could join the club from Espanyol.

“We have some of the best goalkeepers in the world in Marc-André ter Stegen, Szczęsny and Iñaki Peña,” he added.

“They are three world-class goalkeepers. I’m very happy with what we have at home.

“I don’t know what will happen. If he [Joan Garcia] leaves, he will go to a world-class team.”

Barcelona and Newcastle are being tipped as the two options for Garcia currently, as speculation over his future continues to whirl.
