From Spain: Liverpool make contact to sign ‘world-class’ winger after Wirtz, £51m gets a deal…

Liverpool could look to complete a move for Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo in the summer transfer window, according to reports - with the Reds keen on bolstering their attacking depth to lift more trophies next season after tasting success via the Premier League this time around.

Kubo, who joined Real Madrid at the age of 18, ventured on various loan spells during his time in Spain, before finding a home at Sociedad in 2022 - and he's excelled in the north with 41 goal contributions in 137 games for the club. That could see Liverpool make a move for the 23-year-old, having already ventured into the final stages of a move for Florian Wirtz.

The 23-year-old has attracted attention from across the globe, with Liverpool being one of his interested parties - and although his contract is set to run in the Basque Country for another four years, his future at Anoeta remains uncertain.

The Japanese star has reportedly rejected a four-year deal from the Saudi Pro League, which would have been worth €160million (£134.5million), as a result of Premier League clubs 'knocking on his door', meaning that Liverpool have made contact.

The 'world-class' Japanese international has changed agents, and his new representatives will have a conversation with the La Liga outfit this week, with a lack of clarity around their new project having failed to qualify for Europe this season.

Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil and sporting director Roberto Olabe have both left the club after an underwhelming season that saw them finish in 11th place, six points from any European spot and 24 points away from the Champions League qualification spots - with La Real recording the third-worst attacking the league with just 35 goals to their name all season.

And with Kubo having a reported €60million (£51million) release clause, Arne Slot could activate that to bring much-needed backup for Salah, who signed a new two-year contract earlier in the season in a bid to continue his exploits on the right-hand side and deliver another Premier League trophy for Liverpool next season.
