Report: Arsenal pushing hard to sign ‘outstanding’ star after Zubimendi, meeting scheduled this …

Arsenal will learn whether they have been successful in their bid to sign Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia in the coming weeks, according to reports - with the Spain stopper set to sit down with his agent in order to decide his best plan of action for his career, ahead of an expected exit.

The Gunners have been active in the transfer market, already being touted for moves for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, Real Madrid star Rodrygo and more, as they aim to win the Premier League for the first time in over two decades in the upcoming campaign. Director Andrea Berta could be set to spend up to £300million, per GMS sources, and that could incorporate a move for Garcia - with the stopper being set to sit down to discuss his future in the coming days.

The report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo has stated that Garcia will decide his future at the end of the week after he sits down with agent, Juanma Lopez, to assess all offers and choose the move that is best for his career.

After keeping Espanyol in La Liga, Garcia has become one of the hottest goalkeeping properties on the transfer market, which is likely to see him move on from the Catalonian side in the summer. As a result, the 'outstanding' star's five-year stint will end, with the Spanish under-21 stopper being flooded with offers from all over the continent, given his minuscule release clause.

Although Barcelona are labelled as a major player in the race for his services, Arsenal are also thought to be pushing hard for his signature to rival fellow Catalonian stopper David Raya, with Mikel Arteta keen on landing competition once loanee goalkeeper Neto departs at the end of his contract in June.

Garcia is said to be pushing for a first-team spot at his next club, not content with warming the bench and especially not being loaned out to another club in a 'bridge' move - which is a similar position to the one Raya found himself in before taking over from Aaron Ramsdale two years ago, displacing the Englishman in the long-run.

Arsenal are already set to sign one player from Spain in Martin Zubimendi, and Arteta could return to his happy hunting ground shortly to convince Garcia to make the switch to north London.
