Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry continues to face tough times on the hardwood. After the Warriors were knocked out of the NBA playoffs on May 14, concerns around Curry’s health also began surfacing. The sharpshooter suffered a hamstring strain during the Western Conference semifinals, fueling criticism about the NBA's condensed postseason schedule.
Even head coach Steve Kerr pointed to the demanding calendar as a factor in Curry’s injury. Amid the uncertainty surrounding his basketball future, fans received some refreshing news on Tuesday: Curry will return to the American Century Championship this summer. The tournament will be held July 9-13 at the iconic Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

Curry, who won the 2023 edition with 75 points after sinking an epic 18-foot eagle putt to seal the win, will return to the greens alongside his father, Dell, and brother, Seth. He skipped the 2024 tournament to focus on winning Olympic gold with Team USA in Paris but is ready to reclaim his golf title from the 2024 winner, former tennis pro Mardy Fish.
With both boasting recent wins, they’ll unofficially be “co-defending champions” this time around.
Aside from the Curry family, the star-studded lineup will include NFL MVP Josh Allen, Travis and Jason Kelce, and sports legends like Jerry Rice and Ray Allen. As for his NBA return, Curry is expected to rejoin the Warriors for the 2025 preseason, assuming full recovery.
With speculation surrounding player safety at an all-time high, his return will be closely watched by fans and officials alike. For now, the golf course offers Curry not just a competitive outlet but also a brief escape from the wear and tear of professional basketball.
