Browns Myles Garrett Receives 2025 Recognition While Missing Voluntary OTAs

Teams across the NFL are holding voluntary OTAs (organized team activities) this week, and most franchises have notable absences from their facilities this week.

That's not unusual, since most veterans around and above the age of 30 can skip out on the voluntary parts of the offseason. Especially a guy who has the skins like Cleveland Browns pass rusher Myles Garrett.

Garrett is coming off the early part of the offseason when he demanded a trade out of town before coming to terms on a new contract to remain in Cleveland.

Should Garrett be there?

Maybe. Is it a big deal that he's not?

Absolutely not.

Voluntary OTAs stress very simple drills to teach formations and basic parts of the offensive and defensive schemes. Coaches typically focus their attention on new players on the team and rookies.

While Garrett is absent, he's already making headlines for next season.

Pro Football Focus named the former Texas A&M Aggies pass rusher and No. 1 overall pick the league's best for the third season in a row.

"Garrett finished as the NFL's top pass-rusher for the third consecutive season, leading the league in PFF pass-rush grade (92.8), total pressures (83), pass-rush win rate (23.1%) and pressure rate (18.1%). The future Hall of Famer also became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 100 career sacks and remains the only player to record 14 or more sacks in four straight seasons."

Garrett bested the No. 2 player on the list, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons, and the No. 3 pass rusher, TJ Watt from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The rest of the list includes No. 4 Nick Bosa, San Francisco, No. 5 Aiden Hutchinson, Detroit, No. 6 Max Crosby, No. 7. Trey Hendrickson, Cincinnati, No. 8 Jared Verse, Los Angeles Rams, No. 9 Will Anderson Jr., Houston and No. 10 Khalil Mack, Los Angeles Chargers.
