£15m Leeds United deal receives huge boost as Fabrizio Romano shares transfer news

Leeds United have been targeting a move for Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas amid the uncertainty regarding Junior Firpo’s future at the club.

The left-back position is looking like a problematic one for Daniel Farke going into the summer transfer window, with both of Leeds United’s current options in that position potentially leaving.

Junior Firpo is being linked with a move away as he nears the end of his contract. But it has been reported that Leeds United have offered Firpo a new deal to stay beyond this season. Sam Byram is also in talks to remain with his contract set to expire this summer.

And amid the uncertainty over the left-back positions, it’s been reported that Konstantinos Tsimikas at Liverpool is a target for Farke.

Leeds United want to sign Tsimikas this summer with the Greek international understood to be available for a move away from Anfield, following his 2020 move to the club from Olympiacos.

Milos Kerkez says yes to Liverpool move, Konstantinos Tsimikas surely leaves now

Tsimikas already seemed like surplus to requirements under Arne Slot. And the 29-year-old’s summer exit from the club might now be all but confirmed with Liverpool looking set to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez this summer.

Slot has been chasing a deal for the Hungarian international and now journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on X that Kerkez has already said yes to joining the Reds, adding that there’s been ‘no issues on personal terms’ and that a deal is ‘absolutely on’.

Whilst making no mention of Tsimikas, Kerkez arriving surely pushes the £15million-rated Tsimikas even further towards the exit door, and potentially closer to arriving at Elland Road during the summer transfer window, which opens on June 1st.

Leeds United face new hurdle in race to sign Konstantinos Tsimikas

As ever in these situations, Leeds United aren’t alone in their pursuit of Tsimikas: recent reports from the continent have revealed that Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Tsimikas this summer.

And there might yet be the possibility that Tsimikas stays at Anfield, too. Tsimikas’ brother posted a cryptic message on social media recently suggesting that Tsimikas could yet win more Premier League titles with Liverpool, after becoming the first Greek player to ever do so.

Whatever the case, Leeds United are in desperate need of a new left-back this summer. Firpo’s future needs to be resolved as soon as possible so that Farke has more clarity on how many he needs to sign.
