Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill Announces Major Step in Racing Olympic Star Noah Lyles

There has been an ongoing beef between Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill and 2024 Olympic 100-meter gold medalist Noah Lyles. Lyles initially drew the ire of professional athletes in the United States, referring to themselves as "world champions."

Lyles began to catch heat from NBA and NFL stars, including Hill. The Dolphins receiver is known to be one of the fastest runners in the league, and openly challenged Lyles to a race.

Initially, Lyles brushed off the race, but both men have agreed to the race. Lyles even announced that it will be a 60-meter race, which is the middle ground for his usual 100-meter race and the 40-meter race that Hill is apparently very good at.

Though the race could be called off due to Hill training for the upcoming 2025 NFL season, he announced that he has taken a major step to prepare for the Lyles showdown.

Hill told Sun Sentinel reporter David Furones that he is currently running a 10-second flat in the 100 meters on a track. He also has a preliminary race against sprinters planned to prepare for Lyles.

Dolphins on SI reporter Alain Poupart also corroborated the report that Hill has a practice race planned for June 13 in Los Angeles.

It appears that Hill is taking the race with Lyles very seriously, and he is out to prove that he can not only beat an Olympian, but his "Cheetah" nickname is well-earned.

According to a report from 2024 on Fox Sports, Hill clocked in the top 10 at No. 3 in 2023 with a 22.01 mph run in Week 5 against the New York Giants. The speed was compiled by Next Gen Stats.

The report also indicated that Hill was mentioned nine times in 2023 in the top 10 fastest runners in the NFL.

Hill has been well-known for his lightning speed on the field, and is often seen bursting past opposing cornerbacks for downfield touchdowns. Though Hill and the Dolphins struggled a bit in 2024, it sounds like the receiver is ready to get back to his proper form.

Should Hill manage to beat Lyles in a race, it might solidify him as the fastest runner in the NFL. The hope would be that he could then use that speed to not only propel the Dolphins into the playoffs, but also secure the 2,000 passing yards season he has longed for.
