Much has been written and discussed about the historic NFL Draft slide of Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Some draft analysts blamed an overinflated draft grade of Sanders in the first place, and said he was drafted right about where he should've been - in the fifth round.
Others think it had to do with his pre-draft meetings with some teams and the way he handled himself.
Still others blamed his famous father, Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders for Shedeur's slide.
FOX Sports TV host Colin Cowherd put a spin on that theory when he likened Deion to a "pageant mom" who interferes too much.
“Spend too much time in the sun and get burned,” Cowherd said. “Deion was in the sun. Deion spent too much time on television, talking. ... But I have said this over and over, and I will repeat it. Dads, stop talking. Nobody cares. Quarterback Dad has become Pageant Mom. Your heart is in the right place, you have good intent; you are hurting your sons."
Cowherd's point is right on. There's no question that Deion cares about his children's well-being, and to a lesser extent, their football careers. But take for example, another of Deion's sons who is now an NFLer.
Shilo didn't get drafted. He signed as an UDFA with the Buccaneers AFTER he fired his Hall of Fame father as his agent and signed on with Drew Rosenhaus.
There also appeared to be a lot less meddling by Deion with Shilo, simply because he wasn't projected to be a top 10 pick early on.
Whatever the reason, Cowherd has a point.
