Jalen Ramsey’s $20,000,000 Issue Called Out Amid Rams Trade Rumors

One of the most significant NFL storylines to follow this summer is the future of Jalen Ramsey, the star cornerback for the Miami Dolphins.

Ramsey, a seven-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro selection, could in theory be days away from departing the Dolphins. After June 1, a Ramsey trade out of Miami becomes much more palatable for the franchise, as it can absorb and spread his $25.2 million "dead" salary cap hit over the next two seasons instead of the upcoming 2025 campaign alone. Ramsey has even played into the speculation in a recent social media post.

But despite his strong track record, interest in Ramsey's services seems scant at the moment due to his $21 million guaranteed salary for 2025. Not even one of his former teams is interested in a return engagement.

"Someone is going to have to take at least some of that (guaranteed money), a big bulk of that, and the Dolphins are not going to trade him for 30 cents on the dollar," ESPN NFL analyst Peter Schrager said on "The Pat McAfee Show."

Schrager pushed back on the idea that Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams would pursue a Ramsey reunion, though Ramsey loved playing in Los Angeles and helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI in 2022.

And at any rate, given Ramsey's age and elevated salary, the 30-year-old could remain on Miami's roster until July, when Dolphins training camp kicks off.

"I don’t have a list of teams that make sense at the moment, just because of the salary and also because of this time of year. Usually it’ll heat up more toward training camp.”
