One player Newcastle United were linked with regularly last year, and indeed the year before, was Atalanta's Brazilian defensive midfielder, Ederson.
The 25-year-old seemed to be high on Newcastle's transfer list, but despite links still being around last year, there was a feeling that interest had cooled from Newcastle's side following the signing of Sandro Tonali.
While that may indeed be the case, Ederson's name has surfaced yet again in connection with Newcastle.
However, these reports can be taken with a pinch of salt, given that they originate from TuttoAtalanta.

Is Ederson back on Newcastle's radar?
Newcastle are one of several clubs who have reportedly made contact over a move for Ederson
TuttoAtalanta claims that Newcastle are part of a group of clubs eyeing the Brazilian along with Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Ederson has been amazing for Atalanta, and honestly, it's surprising that the Italian club have managed to keep hold of him for so long with all of the interest in him.
The Brazilian has made over 150 appearances for Atalanta since he joined in 2022, and helped the Italian side lift the Europa League trophy last season.

Ederson could cost Newcastle as much as they paid for Alexander Isak
Back in April, it was reported that Atalanta would demand €75 million (£63 million) for Ederson this summer, so a deal will not be easy to do.
We suspect, however, that despite the report from Italy claiming Newcastle have made contact, that once again, our name is being brought up just to try and drum up more serious interest.
As good as Ederson is, we don't see where he fits at Newcastle right now, and at £63 million, we have far more pressing priorities to deal with first before spending that kind of money on a player we aren't screaming out for.
