Jadon Sancho took a moment out of his celebration time after the game to show his class.

Jadon Sancho showed his class after Chelsea defeated Real Betis in the Europa Conference League final on Wednesday night. The Blues went behind early in Wroclaw, but they applied steady pressure throughout the game and ultimately forced their Spanish opponents to cave.

Enzo Fernandez scored the equaliser and Nicolas Jackson completed the comeback by putting Chelsea ahead, but Enzo Maresca’s men only grew in confidence from there. Jadon Sancho scored a with a superb effort to put the game out of reach and there was even time for Moises Caicedo to hammer home a fourth.

The Blues romped to a win in the end, topping off a big week after securing Champions League qualification on the final day of the Premier League season. European glory aside, it was a big statement for Sancho personally, who proved he can deliver on the big occasion with a very well taken goal after coming off the bench.

Chelsea are still yet to make up their minds over Sancho, holding a £25million obligation to buy in the winger’s loan deal, but they can still send him back to Manchester United instead. If the Blues pay £5million, they can end the loan deal and return Sancho to Old Trafford.

There has been plenty of debate over what Chelsea should do with the England international. Asked about it this week, Maresca said: “I don’t know. I said that when in the last weeks you asked me about different players, I always said the same. And the reason why is because it’s the truth. It’s not the moment we have tomorrow, final. Then in 24 hours, 48 hours, we’re going to start to talk about the future. But at this moment, there is not any thought or any decision made on Jadon or any different players.”

Sancho shows his class

Sancho showed real class after the full-time whistle in Poland, pausing his celebrations on the pitch to go and see Real Betis loanee Antony, who also belongs to Manchester United. Antony, who also faces an uncertain future, was on the other side of the coin at full-time, with many of his Betis teammates in tears after the game ended.

Sancho took a moment to approach Antony and locked into an embrace, apparently speaking words of encouragement into the ear of a player who is still - by the books - his teammate. It was a moment of class, and it must be said that many of the Chelsea players also went over to the Betis side of the pitch in an attempt to show their respect.

There were tears aplenty for the the side in green, but the likes of Reece James, Enzo Fernandez and others all went over to congratulate their opponents for their efforts in reaching the final and giving them a real scare.

Fortunately for Betis, they only - and that being a relative term - miss out on silverware and some prize money. The Andalusian side secured qualification to next season’s Europa League through finishing sixth in La Liga.
