It's only OTAs but Eagles' quarterback room already looks unstoppable

While there is no doubt that the Philadelphia Eagles are rolling with Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts at quarterback, fans got a better idea of how the rest of the three quarterbacks will look.

The offseason saw a change at the quarterback position behind Hurts as the Eagles traded Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Philadelphia selected former Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The only thing that didn't change was Tanner McKee sticking around after impressing in the last two games of last season, while Hurts and Picket were hurt.

There might be some tight position battles going on at quarterback during training camp, but Wednesday was about getting a feel for how all four are going to look. The stats show that they might be better than fans expect.

Eagles proving to have depth at quarterback

94 WIP Eagles reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks gave stats nerds exactly what they wanted to read by tracking the stats of each of the four quarterbacks at day two of OTAs. The numbers show that some quarterbacks got more reps than others, but with a lack of video from the workout, the numbers certainly don't lie.

Shorr-Parks first started with the star of the team, Hurts. It was a solid practice from Hurts as he completed 20 of his 21 passes. At the end of the practice, Shorr-Parks gave Hurts a B+ grade and shared his quick analysis on social media.

"Solid day for Jalen Hurts. No special throws but was very accurate/decisive with the ball and never put it in harms way. Probably didn’t have an attempt over 20 yards. Only incompletion was a forced incompletion on a well thrown ball.

Also noteworthy Hurts didn’t have AJ or DeVonta, so he was playing with mostly backups

Nice, solid, veteran QB play by Hurts"

Shorr-Parks made a separate post that shared the final stats from the other three quarterbacks. McKee got more work than Thompson-Robinson and McCord as he completed 14 of his 18 passes.

Thompson-Robinson got two passing attempts and completed both of them. McCord only got to throw one pass, and that was completed.

The overall impression from the stats is that McKee is the clear number two quarterback, with Thompson-Robinson and McCord battling for the third and final spot. There weren't many opportunities for the last two quarterbacks to perform so hopefully they will get more reps in the rest of the OTAs and training camp.

Hurts appears to be in mid-season form already, despite the report that he didn't throw the ball deep. He also didn't have a chance to work with A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith, so that could play a role in that as well.

Eagles fans can feel at ease knowing that the quarterbacks appear to be looking good so far through two days of OTAs.
