Denver Nuggets head coach David Adelman had his introductory press conference on Wednesday, where he and Josh Kroenke answered questions and discussed the direction the organization wants to take.
Adelman took over as interim head coach after Kroenke fired Michael Malone with three games remaining in the regular season. Kroenke also fired GM Calvin Booth and named Ben Tenzer as the interim GM. The Nuggets [announced their head coach decision](https://nugglove.com/nuggets-just-confirmed-we-all-knew-happening-david-adelman) first, with Kroenke saying the team doesn't need a "cultural reset."
Fans' dream target for GM is Bob Myers, but NBA insider Marc Stein previously noted during the Suns' GM search that the former Warriors GM enjoys his roles with ESPN and the Washington Commanders. Stein said it'd take a lot to lure Myers back to an NBA front office, especially if it means leaving his home base of Los Angeles.
Tim Connelly is another name that has emerged as a potential GM target for the Nuggets. However, the Timberwolves don't want to lose him three years after he joined Minnesota's front office. Connelly previously spent nearly 10 years with Denver.
Kroenke said he's looking for "cohesion" between Adelman and the new GM, something Malone and Booth didn't share. He noted that Tenzer has been "unbelievable" since he took over, and that he has "a lot of great ideas" about how the team can improve internally and externally. The Athletic previously reported that Tenzer (and Adelman) had [a chance to secure the job](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6366475/2025/05/18/a-surprising-nuggets-run-ended-with-a-fatal-flaw-exposed-fixing-it-might-be-tricky/) (subscription required).
Kroenke raves about Ben Tenzer with GM search still underway
------------------------------------------------------------
It certainly sounds like Tenzer will have his interim tag removed and receive the official title of the Nuggets' next GM.
Tenzer first joined the organization in 2005 as a minor league coordinator, a role he held until 2009. The Nuggets named him the director of team operations in 2013, where he worked closely with Kroenke and Connelly. He was promoted to vice president of basketball operations before the 2023-24 season.
Fans might be skeptical about Denver promoting from within without casting a wide-ranging outside search (and that's understandable), but Tenzer has been around for a while. It's not like the Suns' situation — they promoted Brian Gregory to GM after he'd been in the front office for only one season, his only experience in an NBA front office.
Kroenke is confident in Tenzer and the direction he envisions for the team, but the role is still open, at least for now. Don't be surprised if the job goes to Tenzer, though.
