Before NFL training camps kick off later this summer, a longtime New England Patriots staple made his retirement official.
David Andrews, who played college football at Georgia from 2011 to 2014, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent. He signed with the Patriots in May 2015 and remained with the team until his release in March 2025.
On Wednesday, Andrews announced his retirement. A formal press conference is scheduled for Monday.
Former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman took to Instagram to recognize his former teammate’s career:
"Congrats on a hellva career DA. Remember your first start. UFA, rookie year, had fire in his eyes and never looked back. Congrats brother!"

Edelman and Andrews were teammates for several years, sharing two Super Bowl titles.
Andrews concludes his NFL career as a two-time Super Bowl champion, winning titles in Super Bowl LI and Super Bowl LIII. He played in 124 games and started 121 of them. Known for his consistency and leadership on the offensive line, he also recovered seven fumbles in his career.
After completing his rookie contract, Andrews signed a three-year extension in 2017, then re-signed in 2021. His final season was plagued by injuries, landing him on season-ending injured reserve in October. He never returned to the field.

Edelman, who spent his entire career with the Patriots after being drafted in 2009 out of Kent State, was part of the same championship runs as Andrews. He won three Super Bowl titles: XLIX, LI and LIII, and was named Super Bowl MVP in the LIII victory.
He finished his career with 620 receptions, 6,822 receiving yards and 36 receiving touchdowns. He also returned four punts for touchdowns. Edelman retired ranking second all-time in postseason receptions and receiving yards, sparking discussion regarding a potential Pro Football Hall of Fame invite.
