Packers give helmets to local high school football teams

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Packers invited three football teams from Northeast Wisconsin to Titletown for a fun afternoon. They played football, ate lunch and were surprised with free top-of-the-line helmets.

A quarter of the high school’s in Wisconsin applied to this program to receive helmets from the Packers, but of those only 10 were chosen as winners by the panel. Out of those, 10 only 3 were invited to participate today in the surprise reveal.

Oshkosh North High School, Shiocton High School, and Winnebago Lutheran High School were big winners on Wednesday. They started with a football outreach camp and thought lunch was the end of their day.

But they were surprised as the curtains were pulled back for Packers Alumni Jarrett Bush to reveal brand new state of the art helmets for their teams. These helmets not only look great, but they’re also up-to-date with top-of-the-line safety features; keeping these players safe. One official with the packers told us all about it:

“Players safety at all levels of the sport is so important you’re talking pros all the way down to the youth level we’re providing brand new helmets they’re some of the top rated VICIS helmets in the industry to these high school programs so they’re able to play as safe as possible,” said Ryan Fencel, the Packers Football Outreach Manager.

$7,500 worth of brand-new Schutt and Vicis Helmets were given to these football programs, and the remaining seven schools will receive their helmets later this summer.
