Antony appeared to headbutt Enzo Fernandez

Manchester United flop suffered European heartache on Wednesday evening as part of a Real Betis side beaten by Chelsea.

Betis had stormed into the clash and taken a deserves lead inside the opening ten minutes. However, a half-time tactical change from Enzo Maresca later, and Chelsea were at their free-flowing best.

The Spanish side crumbled as Chelsea hit them for four, and Antony appeared to suffer a moment of madness after being kept quiet all-night by the Blues defence.

Enzo Fernandez was left on the ground after late challenge as the clock ticked towards 90 minutes, he sensed a small opportunity to let the clock run down, with Antony seen offering him a hand up.

The helping hand was rejected, and in response the Brazilian leaned down and appearing to throw his head in the direction of the Argentine.

Antony was flashed with a yellow card, and a quick VAR check decided it was the correct decision.

"That scuffle between Enzo and Antony? I think Antony should have been carded a second yellow for his headbutt. What's worse was the commentators l desperately trying to justify Antony's behaviour. Pathetic," one fan fumed.

"Wait is that a Antony headbutt," a second asked. And another added: "This should have been Antony's sending-off. Either a direct red or an immediate second yellow!"

"It's a great feeling," Chelsea's captain Reece James said after the full-time whistle. "As the game went on we grew into it and thankfully we scored four goals in the second half.

"Coming into this competition was something we had to win. Next season we go again in the Champions League."

He added, when speaking on what was said at full-time: "I thought in the first half we were flat. The game didn't go our way early on and it looked like it took a lot out of us. We needed a reaction in the second half and we got it."
