The week after that, Houston will hold its 2-day mandatory minicamp on June 10 and 11. From the 12th through late July, the Texans won't practice together until training camp begins.
Today, the players wore helmets but no pads, and got a fair amount of work in together.
Head Coach DeMeco Ryans was pleased with what he saw.
"First day of OTAs we were very excited to get on the grass and actually be able to go against each other and compete in a controlled environment," Ryans said. "I thought our guys did a really good job of handling the way that we came out today and I told our guys that this is a great first day and a great starting point and now it's just about stacking days and getting better each day. I feel like we have the right guys with the right attitude, who will do that."
Ryans and the Texans will practice again tomorrow morning.
