“We only trained for two days, but the players looked like they had been playing together for 20 years. The team were well-organised and cohesive.

“To beat such a great team is a huge honour. It also proves that Asean players can hold their own against world-class talent.”

Segecic – out of contract with the Sky Blues – enjoyed a stellar season after scoring 13 goals to earn a share of the Golden Boot alongside Adelaide United young gun Archie Goodwin, while Macarthur star Adamson established himself as one of the best full-backs in the league amid links with Queens Park Rangers and the EFL Championship.

Dukuly, meanwhile, was a shining light for Adelaide with one goal and four assists in 2024-25.

The Isuzu UTE A-League trio were rewarded for their fine seasons with selection in the 26-player squad.

Segecic, Adamson and Dukuly were not the only Australians involved against the UEFA Europa League finalists, with former Melbourne City defender and one-time Socceroo Harrison Delbridge (currently playing for Incheon United in South Korea) also in the XI.

The ASEAN All-Stars team was made up of Southeast Asia internationals and selected players from the regional leagues.

This year, South Korean boss and current Vietnam head coach Kim Sang-sik led the All-Stars against Ruben Amorim’s United, who finished the 2024-25 Premier League season in 15th position.
