There was a time during the 2025 offseason that the Philadelphia Eagles and tight end Dallas Goedert seemed to be at a parting of the ways.
Goedert was set to make over $11 million in a cap hit for the upcoming season, and wanted a new deal despite being over 30 years old and suffering through several injuries over the past few years.
The Eagles, meanwhile, wanted to get younger and cheaper across the board.
But as the weeks went along, and Goedert remained on the team, hope began to grow. It reached its apex when the organization and their former second round pick agreed to a reworked deal that allowed the star to hit free agency next season, but at a lower cap hit.
Now that Goedert is back and searching for a repeat with the team that drafted him, he is very thankful even for the stressful months he has recently endured.
“There were a lot of emotions that went on through the offseason - not sure if you’re gonna be here, not sure if you’re not,” Goedert said via NFL reporter Ed Kracz. “There was sad emotions of leaving, there was the excitement of a change, seeing something different.
"You go back and forth and try to balance those. I’ve been here seven offseasons and this is the first time I’ve had to deal with it, so I’m pretty lucky. It was an interesting feeling.”
Getting Goedert back this season is huge for the Eagles' chances of repeating as Super Bowl favorites. And his return will only help keep their offense among the elite groups around the league once again.
