Ex Browns Corner Predicts Uncomfortable Reunion

The Cleveland Browns currently have too many quarterbacks. But that's ok, they'll figure that out this offseason in training camp and the preseason. Something they can't figure out without some help is the situation at wide receiver.

Cooper was traded to Buffalo six games into last season and remains a free agent this year. His departure last year meant that Jerry Jeudy became the No. 1 receiver. That in and of itself isn't necessarily a problem, other than that Jeudy hasn't served in that role in his career. And wasn't particularly successful last season with a makeshift quarterback room throwing him the ball.

And the roster behind Jeudy is even more alarming.

Add the fact that Cleveland did nothing in the draft to bring in a young pass catcher, and you've got a problem. The Browns did sign troubled wideout Diontae Johnson this offseason, but him making the roster will be a stretch.

One possibility that former Browns cornerback Hanford Dixon proposed is bringing back Cooper.

"Amari Cooper, what do you guys think about maybe bringing him back?" Dixon presented to his co-hosts on The Hanford Dixon Show.

His co-host pointed out that Cooper had a career year with Joe Flacco - who's already back in Cleveland. Cooper posted 128 catches, four off a career best, and registered 1,250 yards, his most ever as a pro, in 2023 with Flacco throwing him the ball for just five games.

The show also pointed out that another probable landing spot for Cooper, his old team in Dallas, just made a trade for former Steelers wideout George Pickens. So the likelihood of him playing for the Cowboys dwindled.

The Browns remain the best location for Cooper should he decide to continue his career as he approaches his 31st birthday next month.
