Trump pardons rapper NBA YoungBoy

Donald Trump has pardoned NBA YoungBoy among a slew of other pardons on Wednesday.

"I did not do the pardon application, but can confirm he was pardoned," the rapper's lawyer told Rolling Stone.

YoungBoy, born Kentrell Gaulden, issued a statement posted to Instagram the same day: "I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and giving me the opportunity to keep building - as a man, as a father, and as an artist.

"This moment means a lot. It opens the door to a future I've worked hard for and I am fully prepared to step into this."

In December 2024, the rap star pleaded guilty to one count linked to a 2020 gun possession arrest in Louisiana, and a separate count tied to a more recent gun charge filed in Utah.

He was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison with credit for time served.

Gaulden admitted in a plea agreement that he was in possession of a Masterpiece Arms 9mm gun and a .45 calibre Glock Model 21 pistol when he was arrested filming a music video outside his grandfather's house in Baton Rouge on 28 September 2020.

NBA YoungBoy is one of the most-streamed artists in the world. He is currently preparing for his first-ever headlining tour - the MASA Tour - which kicks off in Dallas in September.
